I love being a healer or tank in pugs.... that way if they give me shit, it's more threatening if I leave.

And M, I do recall R having issues with her pet, and I admit... it could have been my pet, considering that.  But I know that I NEVER put my pet on aggressive, and their attitudes were enough to tick my alter ego

Did you drop your pet before you jumped down?

I've seen a hunter wipe the party on that corner because their pet paths down and around grabbing anything in their way to get back to the group.  Don't have to be on agro and it is unfortunately very easy to do on accident.

This screenshot conveys the awesomeness of a UP pug I was in today (randomly got someone I know from WW as the tank).

It was pretty awesome.  After we had downed the trash before Gortrok, the tank said "Stay close" and ran off towards Skadi after clicking the red orb.  The two non-whisperwind randoms were a tad confused, but off we went.

We downed the first 'wave' of the skadi trash in time to turn around and catch the first of the prebosses to Gortrok.  Turned back to the next skadi wave, alternating those with the prebosses to Gortrok.

After the fourth of the prebosses we brought Skadi down (I was cleaning up the skadi adds, which is why I have no threat on Skadi).  There might have been a 5 second overlap where we were engaging both bosses fully, but it was surprisingly easy Smile

And other than being "awesome" what is the purpose of doing two boss encounters at once?

Just wondering.

With a pretty geared group neither of those bosses are particularly challenging and both involved timed portions that prevent one from buring it quickly.  By pulling both we had constant combat for the duration and an actual 'oh shit' factor as I wasn't sure we could pull it off  Razz

I'm really only in heroics for my 2 frost emblems so things that make it more interesting &/or faster are quite welcome.

I like this thread...and it reminds me why I still don't have "the Patient" title (still need 2 more).

Sometimes I think I like the old system better even though it is easier to get a group now.

First group...PoS well geared based on gear score..but IDIOTS based on play. Dps pulling instead of the tank..tank pulling boss while trash mobs were still alive before 1st boss = wipe. Tank blames me (the healer), of course, and tank bails to which I follow suit.

Second group...Got into a CoS group last night where tank had 21K HP and was in all greens and blues...not def capped or even close.
I wanted to bail immediately esp when others said that if I was a good healer I could keep him alive...to which I responded that that may be the case if the rest of them were careful with their aggro. First trash pull...tank doesn't tank, warrior (fury) ends up inadvertently taking over as tank in his dps gear/spec and we finish the instance dragging the poor original "tank" through...where he earned his achievement for his first badge, first time killing extra boss (he got the mount), and first time through HCoS AND (more importantly) first time through CoS reg. Sheesh! Lucky for him the group was forgiving and offered him advice on what to do BEFORE he signs up for another random as a tank.

Third group...DOZ group, arras DK tank (did good) and Holyones in a very celebratory mood after Saints superbowl win making his game play unpredictable (he died a lot).

The moral of the story (if this is a story and there is a moral): I like playing/letting DOZ/Travelers die over strangers. So don't be surprised if you get harrassed by me to group bc I prefer NOT to pug and add more stories to this thread.  Smile <3

Gotta love the ones where someone rolls need on an item you've been over 15runs for ... they're wearing shit greens and blues, and upon winning the item, they leave group... instance unfinished.

Gotta love those 3 and 4man premade groups who are all 5500+ GS calling you a retarded noob because you can't compete with their "leetness".

Gotta love those 10 and 25man pugs who decline you as tank simply because your GS is less than "leetness".

and.... gotta find at least a little humor in a rogue who (after wiping multiple times) gets pissed off and tricks to the dps, aggros a killer pack of mobs, and then drops group

Of course, I really do "gotta love" the instances where I'm on a toon (not my tank) and the rest of the group is super friendly... composed of a feral bear tank doing 3kdps+, and a mage and a warlock who were both putting out over 8kdps ... on single targets

I was in a PUG ToC25 this weekend where we killed Jaraxxus, but that's it.

A 3.5k GS hunter was doing 1.5k DPS (being outdone by all the tanks) and won a 245 crossbow.  Immediately following that, the next piece of loot wiped the raid.  It was an AGI/DPS neck piece, and the Master Looter didn't want a warrior to win it.  Then every STR DPS in the raid decided to call the ML all sorts of fun four-letter names, which drew out into a 10 minute behind-the-scenes discussion on whether or not the raid leaders should follow through with the decision.  Since they decided to skip the warrior and give it to another hunter anyway, about 5 people left.

Then came the task of find replacements (and the longer it took, the more people trickled out the door).  Just as someone went to Dal to recruit, someone started the event, which locked the dungeon so that no one could get in or out without us wiping on the Champs.  The raid leaders continued recruiting anyway...
The first replacement was one of the biggest loud-mouths that had quit, but this time on an alt (of course) so he could troll the raid.  He eventually leaves, only to return on another alt.  And then he comes back on his main (don't ask me why the raid leaders let him back in) and someone eventually gave in to the request to make him an assist.  He then starts kicking people out of the raid, starting with the ML.

It was at that point (after about 20 minutes of BS) I knew the fun was over, and I quit the raid.  Never expected to see a raid that could pull the Faction Champs fail before the pull happened.  The only thing I regret not having was some popcorn.

And sadly nothing I just listed was on my Bingo card.  Sad

Not my story directly but I'll post for Jean.  Her daily heroic pops after a 15 min wait with UK.  Long and short group is full of idiots like tank pulling w/o a healer.  The fun part is where I log when she is 15 mins in and pop my herioc daily which as a tank was all of 3 seconds suprise UK.

I look over my shoulder and Jean's group is about to pull the second boss as we started.  In my group goes and we start rolling through the instance and there was a fun moment in our house when my group lapped hers.  I didn't know she knew the meaning of some of the words she was using.  I got done logged out and 10-15mins later another slew of cursing popped out of the other room as her group finally finished up.  Laughing

Got a new one. I was in a PuG Random doing Pit of Saron. The group was in ok gear (around 4k gs, mine is 5.5k). Had one death due to an overzealous mage AoEing right as I charged a group, but we were rolling through trash and downed the first boss in record time. We got to Ick and two people died to Poison Nova (they didn't even try to run). As soon as the boss died I got voted out. Next thing I knew I was standing in Dalaran going....wtf??

Next random was Occ. (I get that on one of my toons every day, even though I only run two randoms a day.) Went pretty well until the last boss. Everyone landed and refreshed their dragons to top off health except this one hunter. I asked if they were ready....no one replied. So I used my "Pulling in 3-2-1" macro and pulled. As soon as I pulled the hunter landed and started complaining he could not remount. We killed the boss with zero deaths, but he would not stfu and earned a place on my ignore list.

I love this thread!!

I get in this group and the tank is named 'something'walrus.  I joke before we start  "I am the walrus coo coo cachoo!".  Giggles all around.  We're in HoL and this guy (5800 gs and I'm healing ~5100gs) pulls everything up to the boss AND the boss.  We live no problem and the rest of the instance follows suit.  We finished in 10 min.  I tell the tank he should be named Psycho-walrus ... more giggles.  Did about three more with that group before disbanding.

CoS.  Things are going fine at first, then the overeager warlock starts to die.  He's pulling shit before the tank even gets there and then starts complaining about not getting heals.  We get past the first two bosses and my blood pressure is getting off the charts.  This guy is REALLY pissing me off (continues to die or 'almost' die and blame me using many expletives) he dies (again probably the 4th time) on one of the groups in the inn and says something to the effect of "I didn't even get one heal".  A.  this was totally not true.  B.  He dies before I get get a third heal off to him.  C.  Everyone else is fine.  I'm done at this point.  I say "Look, I don't mean to be a dick or anything, but I can't stand this guy any more.  Kick him, or I'm gone."  The tank responds, "Naw we can find a replacement".  Me, "Ok", and instantly left group very happy with the knowledge that they'd be waiting 10-15 min for another healer.

PoS.  I get in and the tank has a gs of about 4100.  I'm thinking "this is going to be rough".  We pull it off with no problems at all fairly quick and efficient.  Goes to show that gs isn't all its cracked up to be ... a tool and nothing more.

These are a couple of my notable fails in various pugs

On my DK, after getting my 2nd lucky old sun and speccing to a DW frost tank.  Queue up with Misfit and...Uncle, I think plus 2 randoms.  I was so excited about my shiny new maces and getting them runeforged and some other gear updated, that I completely forgot to check what my weapon skill was.....ooops.  First couple pulls were a little interesting.  Misfit was misdirecting his heart out as my chat log is filled with "Your weapon skill has increased to 2" and so on.  Since I had two maces, the skilling went up quickly, I think each pull got me about 150 points, so by the time we got to the boss I was nearly at 400.  Fun times though.
That might have been the same run where our pally healer (a random) was on the Battered Hilt quest and needed to pick up barrels of saronite or something and would just wander into packs of mobs while he did it.  Keen eyed Misfit was right there with MD at the ready.

I've lost count of the number of times I've healed in my DPS set or DPS'd in my heal set on Famea, they should really make an equipment manager so you can swap sets Razz

A random Gundrak run on Halann for the elders achievement, I spent half the run in Aspect of the Viper and was still #1 on dps and I spent the rest of the instance attacking anything but the tank's target (after MDing the whole pack to him)

One good run on my DK that I remember:  I think it was Drak....  I was DPSing and the other randoms were a pre-made group from...somewhere.  The pally tank had somewhere near 50k health and as soon as we all zoned in, she just took off and started collecting mobs.  One group, two, three, four, boss, next group and finally stopped to aoe.  The two  mages went to town, even the tree got in on it.  Poor little deathstink, just barely keeping up and laying out pestilence and blood boils as fast as I could.  Healer was pulling near 2k, both mages above 5k, pally was around 4.  Me...around 2500 Sad  Was a really fun run, only one wipe when the troll deathknight fearing dudes fear glitched us all and wailed on us.  We still beat the timer by a solid 5 minutes

So, I took a dive and replied to a spam for ICC10man forming and needing a tank and healer.

I told him I could do either.  He said tank... and then asked not what my gs was, but how much hp I had.

Me: ~40k...
him: that's fine
Me:  Shocked

The guy that was sending me the tells and coordinating the group was Proudjaina.  I've seen him around a lot, and I'm sure some of you have seen him around too.  He's actually a really nice guy.

After being invited to the group, I was surprised that they let me in.  I was the lowest gs by about 400.  (Not that gs matters, but it does show that you've experienced that content level to some degree).  My gear barely showed that I'd even set foot in ICC... so I felt the need to give a heads-up to PJ (as they all call him) and tell him I have no experience beyond Saurfang.. and have only been dps on Festergut.

again...
him: that's fine
me:  Shocked

Immediately I'm being "looked at" by the other members of the group as they come flooding in the gateway of ICC.  I can see the targets of everyone, and 90% of them were me. I'm waiting for comments or a polite kick .. but neither happened.  The other tank was also a pally, well ICC equipped with about 8k more hp than I.  I sort of laughed to myself and thought, "well... at least I won't have competition for tank stuff if it drops"

As I figured, he led the tanking, and felt the need to taunt off of me even when I was handling adds perfectly fine.

All was going great ... and then I jumped over one last time on the gunship to tank the orc, the battle ended, and the *(@$ ship took off.  It was too late to jump back.. but wait! there's a portal!  ... *runs*.... and the portal disappears.  Confused  I had to jump ship, die, and port back.  I'm sure I looked like a purebred noob.

Next I mess up (or so it seemed), the two fatties before Stinky/Precious.  The other tank pulled, I had the fatty behind targetted.. and then I get hook-pulled to the fatty.  Well, another pack so happened to be roaming around the corner and now they spot me because I got jerked 40yrds away.  We now have two massive hitting fatties and an entire pack of casters/shit.  Only us two tanks, 1dps and 1healer survive.  I got blamed, but it was a "soft" blame, if there were such a thing.

Immediately after, they tell me to pull Stinky... just after the MT d/c's.  We wipe due to the stacking debuff.  People port back too soon, wipe again.  Again, I'm feeling the much unwarranted tag of "noob" being nonverbally pinned to my character.

Rest goes fine until some 3mob boss.. Valanas, etc etc... whereupon another member of the raid makes a comment about me, something like "Jera is probably going to need massive heals because his gear isn't good..." ...

...

Me:  Rolling Eyes

First pull, we wipe, I'm last person alive.

Second pull, we wipe, I'm dead because other tank died...

Third pull, we win because someone had to tell the other tank that taunts won't work on the spheres that spawn.

Then we do Dreamwalker to finish off the night for easy badges, and it's explained to me by yet another person, that I may die after I kill an Abomination from the worms that spawn because "they hit like a truck and they'll prob kill you since you're undergeared, so be ready"...

again,
Me:  Rolling Eyes

Seriously, I didn't even know they had spawned the first time.

All in all a great run, lots of experience.. and I got to show (at least in some ways) that gs doesn't mean shit beyond the fact that you've been there.

Yeah, M.. I'm happy with my gear and my own survivability, but all this GS 'epeen' stuff lately just bothers me.  Like I told some of them the other night, I wish there were such things as SS (skill score), or JS (jerk score), or IJAHTS (I'm just a horomonal teenager score).

On the upside, I've got some experience with the Plague content, so when I get to come raid with you goons, I might be able to provide some assisstance from the tanks perspective.

On another point bonus, that run made me curious about certain details of the other pally tank's gear and I went to his armory.... which led me to another pally, which got me curious about some theorycrafting ... and I spent a couple hours reading up on some of the latest tankadin theories... which, led me to another respec.

Apparently, reckoning has some nice interest back on the tank table, provided your expertise/hit are high enough.  I also switched some points from lower level aoe threat to more directed at higher end boss style threat with survivability.  I didn't gain any real stats, but I should be pumping out at least 6-10% more tps/dps so you killers can unload without worry.

Just pugged Nexus on my hunter right up until server restart.  A rather clueless mage and I had the interdimensional quest.  While we started on Grand Magus, we started getting server spams for shut down.  The warrior tank (who had the legacy gear) pressed us on and we made to anomalus with 4:30 to go.  Burned him down with :25 sec to shutdown - looted (although I never saw item rewarded so I think that someone did not click button) and I ran over to cast the rift thingie.  I got mine with 5 secs to spare and started to jump to show the mage where it was.  Server froze with me in the air.  Good times in the wee hours of the PST morning.

ETA:  I will be curious to see where I log back in.

Oh and I was up because boy was up...and apparently the wee hours of the morning before reset are a good time for DPS to get into groups - ran four dungeons in 90 min Smile
